Cades Cove: The Curse of Allie Mae by Aiden James
We read this for book club, I don’t remember why. It was one of those books that you read because you want to know what happens, even though the book itself is awful. He lost me within the first few pages, first when I could not suspend my disbelief that he and his wife would fly from DENVER to spend their anniversary in GATLINBURG, and second when he talked about the chestnut trees in Cades Cove. The story was interesting, and sometimes scary, but also nonsensical, and the writing was just terrible. Even so, I read the second book because I wanted to see what happened. More on that later.
Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
If you love reading, isn’t there just something about reading about libraries and bookstores? I loved this interesting and mysterious read about forbidden books and codes and mysterious people who meet in secret . . .

Lights Out by Elise Hart Kipness
I don’t remember this very well . . . the main character is a reporter, and her best friend’s husband is murdered. I think it was the first of a series and I obviously did not like it enough to seek out any more.
You Shouldn’t Be Here by Lauren Thompson
I read another book by this author a few years ago that involved time travel. This one also has some otherworldly elements, like voices in the walls that only one person can hear . . .
