I just want to say that I am fairly certain that WordPress does not do the best job of saving my drafts, and between that and my own occasional lapses, I am sure that some books I read never make it into these posts. Oh well.
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Remember I told you I was trying to be in a Jane Austen book club at some point? I still haven’t quite read all the books but this one was the next on the list and I finally bought and read it. I had read it in college, but did not remember it well. So I was in for a treat. And it prepared me well for the next read, below.
The Late Mrs. Willoughby by Claudia Gray
Second in the Jonathan Darcy/Juliet Tilney series. I was SO excited for this to come out, and after having just read all about Willoughby in Sense and Sensibility, it was fun to watch him suffer here. Even more fun for me is the friendship between the two young detectives.
The Broken Places by Mia Sheridan
I believe this is the third book I have read by this author. It’s very dark. I’m not sure how believable the premise is. But I did enjoy the two main characters.
No Home for Killers by E.A. Aymar
I vaguely remember this after reading the synopsis. There’s a dead guy, and his sister, and his girlfriend, and a big mystery. He was a musician, and there’s big money/business involved, but I don’t think it did much for me.
The Last Good Day by Robert Kugler
There were definitely things I liked about this story, the fact that they spent the day at Wildwood, where we have vacationed many times, for one. But I knew what the bad news was for so long that I spent the whole novel with impending dread, especially given the name. And while there are sequels, I don’t find myself wanting to read them. It’s a sweet book, though.
